While we at Handyman Connection love being your go-to for home maintenance and repair, there are a few easy repairs that you can learn to do yourself. Show your home a little TLC with these simple, yet handy, DIY quick-fixes!
- Squeaky door hinges? Spray some lubricant on the hinges, while moving the door back and forth to work it into the hinges. No spray lubricant on hand? Try rubbing some some petroleum jelly on the hinges.
- Squeaky floor? Sprinkle a bit of talcum powder over the squeaky area and sweep it into the cracks of the floor.
(Bonus: Talcum powder works for squeaky shoes, too!)
- Stained tub or sink? Mix equal parts cream of tartar and baking soda with enough lemon juice to form a paste. Rub the paste into the stain with a soft cloth. Let sit for at least 30 minutes and then rinse well with water.
- Remove scuffs in linoleum by rubbing the spot with white toothpaste or by applying a little spray lubricant on a towel and rubbing the area lightly. (Seriously…go get yourself some spray lubricant. It fixes everything!)
